Dario G Has Died; Cause Of Death

He was just 53 years old...

UK dance producer Dario G has died.

The producer – real name Paul Spencer – was diagnosed with stage four rectal cancer last year, and underwent medical treatment. A much-loved figure in dance music, support came in from all quarters, with Dario G using social media to remain connected with fans. Sadly, news of his death was confirmed overnight (June 17th) in an official statement.

“He was positive until the end but this was one battle he could not fight any more,” his family wrote on his official Instagram page. “He leaves behind a wonderful musical legacy and many happy memories.”

Dario G rocketed to fame in the 90s, with dance crossover hits like the immortal ‘Sunchyme’. His song ‘Carnaval de Paris’ referenced many of the teams playing in the France ’98 World Cup, and became a summer-long anthem during the tournament.

A modern sports classic, it will no doubt be heard at a multitude of stadia during the current European Championships in Germany.

A number of peers and contemporaries paid their respects to Dario G.

“A true inspiration, he brought joy to so many people and will live on forever through his music,” said Sigala. “Paul told me many times over the last year, ‘Go get yourself checked,’ so I’m passing on that message to anyone reading this, as I’m sure he would want me to.”

Alice Deejay simply wrote: “We will miss you lots”.
