Daptone studios is New York has been left devastated after it was discovered the building had been broken into and vast amounts of valuable equipment stolen.
Hidden away down a quiet street in New York, Daptone is one of the most influential recording studios on the planet. Founded by renegades from the North American retro soul scene, it produced stunning records by The Sugarman Three, Sharon Jones And The Dap Kings and many more.
The studio’s ability to recreate the fresh feeling of vintage soul music made it an in demand recording house, attracting the attention of Mark Ronson who used the house band The Dap Kings extensively.
In what must be a crushing blow for the owners it was discovered that they have no insurance.
The folks at Daptone have asked for “everyone’s help first in keeping an eye out for all of our stuff showing up on ebay/craigslist/local music shops, and secondly (and more realistically) keeping an eye out for good deals on headphones, mics, pre-amps, etc.”
