Daniele Luppi x Parquet Courts Combine On ‘Talisa’

A love letter to Talisa Soto

Italian artist Daniele Luppi tends to throw every ounce of his being into a project.

So when the producer hooked up with Parquet Courts, the New York band knew that they couldn't breeze through the studio sessions.

New album 'MILANO', then, is typically involved; it's a multi-layered, multi-faceted document, prompted by the artistic communities that flourished in mid 80s Milan.

Diego Araujo directs the video for 'Talisa', an album cut that features an empowered vocal from Yeah Yeah Yeahs lynchpin Karen O.

In part reflecting the influence of cult film Blow Up, it's also a love letter to Talisa Soto, a celebrated model and actress, and also the muse of Gianni Versace.

Daniele explains: “After my initial input and references, mostly the amazing photographer plus models scene in Antonioni’s Blow Up, I let Diego do his thing, the only caveat being I wanted to feel like we where in 1980s Milan. Something seemingly quite out of reach since he was shooting in Quito, Ecuador – but he pulled it off: he found an Alfa Romeo collector, he created a Milanese subway sign and he stole the 25 year-old Betacams from the University of Cinema for the weekend shoot… Hopefully nobody will ever find out…”
