Daniel Lanois Recasts Leonard Cohen’s Poem ‘Torn Again’

It's a beautiful arrangement...

Daniel Lanois has shared his arrangement of the Leonard Cohen poem 'Torn Again'.

Daniel Lanois doffs his cap to a fellow Canadian great on the project, which utilises a reading of 'Torn Again'.

Leonard Cohen's assured baritone remains an astonishing instrument, and the new setting locates fresh nuance in his words.

A kind of spectral Americana landscape, slide guitar on the piece comes from Rocco Deluca.

Out now, 'Torn Again' follows Daniel Lanois' recent studio album 'Heavy Sun', which was released back in March.

He comments: “The spine of our steel guitars became the rock for the poem to stand on. Wayne Lorenz and I spent many hours in the studio rearranging and dubbing out the steel to enhance the lyrical journey with orchestral compliment. I’m very proud of this work, may it keep on reaching and speaking.”

Tune in now.
