Daniel Avery, Ghost Culture and Working Men’s Club’s Syd Minsky Sergeant combine for new project Demise Of Love.
The three have known one another for some time now – Daniel Avery and Ghost Culture previously worked in a record shop together, and have worked frequently in the past. Mutual fans of Syd Minsky Sergeant‘s work, the trio entered the studio together last year to focus on new ideas.
The group’s ethos quickly coalesced, taking the music in a different path to their prior work. A self-titled EP lands on May 30th via Domino, with Daniel Avery terming it: “Three distinct sonic personalities coming together to create something new entirely, a search for a burning light that could only exist between the trio.”
The wide-open sessions have resulted in a four track EP, with Alan Moulder handling the final mix; Trevor Jackson, meanwhile, sculpts the artwork.
Available to pre-order now, Demise Of Love have shared their first single ‘Strange Little Consequence’.
Dark electronics with a passion for melody, it’s worth comparing to some of Depeche Mode’s seminal work, or even Nine Inch Nails; there’s a rock crunch, an industrial physicality to the production, while equally remains tethered to conduits within club culture.
A focussed, intense piece of songwriting, ‘Strange Little Consequence’ comes with a video shot by Jak Payne, who explains: “We wanted to create something really visually driven for this. A visual that gestures towards the breakdown of a relationship, through the clutter and detritus that is left behind.”
Demise Of Love will celebrate the EP with three launch parties: catch them at YES in Manchester on March 30th, Silencio in Paris on April 11th, and The Glove That Fits in London on May 29th.
