Danger Mouse / Daniele Luppi Live Clips

More acoustic clips emerge...

Danger Mouse and Daniele Luppi have unveiled two more live clips from their ‘Rome’ project.

One of the most historic cities in Europe, Rome has inspired artists, poets and musicians for centuries. Last year the Italian capital fuelled an unusual project which saw Danger Mouse and Daniele Luppi cross swords.

Containing contributions from Jack White and Norah Jones, ‘Rome’ was a triumph. Clips from the multi-artist project are continuing to emerge, with two more acoustic performances released online recently.

Shot in LA by acclaimed photographer and director Chris Milk, both ‘Black’ and ‘Season’s Trees’ feature Norah Jones. Watch the clips below and then read a short statement from the director after the jump.

“The videos were an experiment in raw minimalism. There was really no crew. Just myself and audio engineer Todd Monfalcone recording the live sound. I used 2 Canon 5D SLR cameras, one mounted on a tripod while handholding the other, and one light disk reflector leaned against a wall. Brian, Norah, and Daniel performed each song a few times. Black was the first one we did and took a min to figure out. They hadn’t really performed live together and it took me a min to figure out how to run two cameras simultaneously by myself. We did Black maybe 9 times which is why Norah faux collapses at the end of the take. We used the 9th. Season’s Trees was 2nd and we had 1 we liked after maybe 3 takes. Norah had no hair, make up, or wardrobe people. She still looks completely radiant. There is an intimacy and life within the clips that is sometimes difficult to capture with a crew of 100, lip-syncing, wind machines, and everything else I’ve certainly indulged in. What you see and hear is basically all there was. 3 very talented musicians playing together in a room.”
