One of British music’s powerhouse independent labels, Dance To The Radio is set to reach a new milestone with their 50th release, and they have spoken exclusively to ClashMusic!
Founded in Leeds by a close-knit community of musicians, Dance To The Radio has grown to become one of Britain’s top independent labels. Capable of bringing the world the talents of Forward Russia as well as Pigeon Detectives (ouch!) the label has tread it’s own path, and more power to them.
Now extending overseas, new signings to the label include Brooklyn rock outfit Bear Hands. Closer to home, British acts Pulled Apart By Horses and Broadcast Society have also put pen to paper and will appear on a new series of twelve inches.
The special luxury item will showcase the label’s talents and will be available in a limited edition of 500. A series of four twelve inches, the discs will contain superb sound quality. Those who want to keep their copies in the wrapping can use mp3s, which will be sent to all 500 owners.
Speaking exclusively to ClashMusic a spokesperson for the label said: “It is great to reach the landmark of our 50th release on Dance To The Radio and it stills feels like we are only at the beginning of the journey. In the current climate we have continually placed value in music and the success of our vinyls is proof that people still want something tangible from bands that they can treasure as a work of art.”
“Obviously we have to try and tailor that to what people tell us they want which is why people get an MP3 of each song on the 12 inch single. 2009 is looking great, we launched the new label website today and we couldn’t believe that our first 50 releases have included 67 bands, all of them now have an artist page on the website.”
Volume One of the 4×12″ series is available to pre-order now. ClashMusic have grabbed five packs of goodies from the label, including a copy of the new twelve inch and label signings Grammatics new album.
