Songwriter Dana Gavanski has confirmed plans for new album ‘LATE SLAP’.
The record was pieced together alongside her band, with Mike Lindsay (Tunng, LUMP) producing at his studio in Margate. Largely tracked across a five-day spell, the album is an attempt to bring together opposing characteristics in her own personality.
“The album holds together the seemingly disparate aspects of my character that I have sometimes tried to repress,” says Dana. “With this album I’m letting them into the room, celebrating them for all their strangeness – a strangeness which I think we all, on some level, share.”
Out on April 5th – you can pre-order it online – through Full Time Hobby, the resulting album asks probing questions of its maker. New song ‘How To Feel Uncomfortable’ is a striking return, displaying Dana’s impeccable lyrical accuracy. An ode to the tech anxiety that defines many of our lives, she sings:
“Stand too close, face in your phone/ it’s scrambling your mind/ tired of your zombie glow/soaking up your eyes.”
