Based in Vancouver, Dan Mangan's strident, literary take on acoustic songcraft has turned him into a cult hero.
Expanding his live show to include some close friends and collaborators, this collective has now re-tooled itself as Dan Mangan + Blacksmith.
New album 'Club Meds' will be released on January 12th, with the title referring to our ability to silently divorce ourselves from reality.
"'Club Meds is about sedation." Mangan writes in the record’s liner notes. "Sedation can be chemical, but not exclusively so. There is a great vacation from actuality going on. Maybe there always has been. It seems like everybody else is already at the party and that life is somehow easier or more fun under the fog."
A personal, insightful record, 'Club Meds' will be accompanied by a series of North American shows.
