Dan Carey and Soulwax will be honoured at this year’s AIM Awards.
A celebration of independent music in all its forms, the AIM Awards returns to London’s Roundhouse on September 26th. Newly announced performers at the ceremony include grime legend P Money, and rising DJ, Whiney.
Elsewhere, you can check out a set from One To Watch (in association with BBC Music Introducing) nominee Laughta, with more names to come.
Alongside this, organisers have confirmed two winners ahead of the night itself. Speedy Wunderground co-founder and hot-shot producer Dan Carey will be given the Innovator Award in association with Amazon Music.
A remarkable figure, the South London studio guru has helped steer a generation of British guitar bands, working with a slew of huge names. Speedy Wunderground’s roster speaks for itself, while Dan Carey’s frequent collaborative work illustrates his prowess.
Alongside this, Belgian electronic group Soulwax have gained this year’s Outstanding Contribution to Music in association with Merlin award. Stalwarts in club culture, the group have remained at the forefront for two decades, while DJ-focussed offshoot 2ManyDJs broke new ground.
The announcement follows the revelation that Björk has been named Best Live Performer, and Charisse Beaumont – Black Lives in Music will be recognised as Diversity Champion.
