Daft Punk Sign To Columbia

Update status with new image...

Daft Punk have confirmed that they have signed to Columbia and updated their website with a new image.

Will 2013 be the year Daft Punk deliver their new studio album? It's been almost ten years since 'Human After All' and the past 12 months have brought with them an avalanche of rumour and speculation.

This morning, though, the duo seemed to spark into action. Posting a new image (see above) on their social networks, Daft Punk pasted the Columbia logo into the corner – seemingly confirming that their new material will be released on the venerable label.

The news has caused quite the commotion online, with Daft Punk's website immediately crashing. More on this as it comes in…

As has been widely reported, Chic's Nile Rodgers is due to appear on the French duo's new album. Keeping an active blog, the guitarist recently inadvertently revealed the potential timescale for fresh material:

"The next time I set foot in Japan, my collaboration with Daft Punk would have started to hit people's eardrums, as well as a number of songs I'm working on over the next few months with a select group of artists, and of course finally, my lost CHIC and solo material. No matter how it ends, 2013 Won't Be Boring!"
