Cribs Name New Album

Tracklisting announced for new record

Newly expanded indie four piece The Cribs have named their new album ‘Ignore The Ignorant’.

Formed by the Jarman brothers, The Cribs are known for their purist approach to recording. The band’s debut album was laid down in London’s Toe Rag studio, famed for only using vintage analogue equipment.

Since then, the group have forged a productive partnership with Edwyn Collins. The one time Orange Juice singer produced the band’s last album, the highly acclaimed ‘Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Whatever’.

The band’s most successful effort to date, the album broke into the UK Top 20 and saw The Cribs’ cult following grow ever larger.

Since then, The Cribs have recruited an extra member. Former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr joined the band, and has been extensively involved in the new album. Marr obviously has a firm work ethic, as he is also a sometime member of Modest Mouse.

The band debuted new material on their recent UK tour, with Johnny Marr making an immediate impact – on Ryan Jarman’s ear at least. As part of a band ritual the musician gave the singer a new piercing, and filmed the process for the benefit of fans.

For their fourth album The Cribs have travelled to the United States. Working with Nick Launay, the group used a studio in the Laurel Canyon to focus on new material.

A major leap forward for the band, ‘Ignore The Ignorant’ will be preceded by the single ‘Cheat On Me’. The band played a number of new songs on their recent UK tour, and have just announced a number of extra dates for Autumn.

Released on August 30th, ‘Cheat On Me’ is already a fan’s favourite and is a high point of the band’s live set. Due for release on September 7th, parent album ‘Ignore The Ignorant’ is due to be available on all the usual formats with label Wichita hinting a number of extra surprises.
