Creep Show – Wrangler, John Grant – Launch New Album ‘Yawning Abyss’

It's out on June 16th...

Creep Show have reconvened for a new album.

The group is essentially left-field bands Wrangler with the aid of songwriter supreme John Grant, with debut album ‘Mr Dynamite’ landing five years ago. Gaining a cult following in its own right, the musicians then went their separate ways, focussing on a variety of different projects.

Somehow, the gravitational pull could not be resisted, with Creep Show reconvening for a second LP. Out on June 16th via Bella Union, ‘Yawning Abyss’ presents a second chapter to their story. In the words of musician/producer Benge – of Wrangler – it’s a statement from “a band of musical misfits who have found a voice or two…”

Largely pieced together at Benge’s countryside studio, the story of ‘Yawning Abyss’ moves from the English moors to the volcanic plains of Iceland.

“On this album”, Benge continues, “Wrangler wrangled some vintage synths, mostly Roland, Moog, and the ‘Crystal Machine’ – then John Grant joined in the fun at Memetune Studios where lots of musical experiments were carried out. Then Mal and John ran off to Iceland with the master tapes and recorded a load of madcap vocals. Back at Memetune, me and Phil were left to try and make sense of it all. Which wasn’t hard because what they did in Iceland was totally magnificent.”

Title song ‘Yawning Abyss’ is online now, a vivid return that is both dynamic and highly surreal, backed by startling, colourful vocals.

Tune in now.
