Courtney Barnett has shared her punchy, poetic new single 'Need A Little Time'.
The Australian songwriter will release new album 'Tell Me How You Really Feel' later this year, following sessions throughout the end of 2017.
'Nameless, Faceless' was an energetic, punk-driven opener, with Courtney Barnett now harnessing her lyrical prowess on 'Need A Little Time'.
An attempt to locate some head-space, 'Need A Little Time' utilises deft wordplay with a nagging sense of melancholy.
At one point Courtney sings: "Everybody wants to have their say, forever waiting for some car crash, I need a little time out..."
Danny Cohen takes care of the visuals, and he developed a close bond with the themes of the song. The director explains:
"'Need A Little Time' has this soaring, floating feeling to it. I decided to play on the meaning of the song, Courtney needs some time away from herself (and you). I didn’t want to show Courtney leaving her friends/family/fans etc, it needed to be more metaphorical. Courtney floats through space and time, ends up in some isolated part of the universe. She finally has found some time alone, just Courtney and her guitar, singing in space without a care in the world."
Tune in now.
'Tell Me How You Really Feel' will be released on May 18th.
