Courting Share New Rattler ‘Battle’

As their 'New Last Name' album gains a physical pressing...

Courting have shared new single ‘Battle’.

The band simply can’t stop – new album ‘New Last Name’ emerged earlier this year, a broad-ranging selection of ditties that emphasised their stalwart creativity.

Since then, they’ve toured across the country and beyond, before pausing to take their breath across the Easter weekend. ‘New Last Name’ has gained a physical pressing, while their latest EU tour has just kicked off.

As if that wasn’t enough, Courting have just shared a new helter-skelter piece of songwriting. Out now, ‘Battle’ aims for directness – all sharp edges and powerful drumming, the lyrics are framed by a longing to escape boredom, and everyday ennui.

It points to some of the themes around their recent album as a whole. “It’s a theatrical play within an album,” explains frontman Sean Murphy O’Neill. “There’s a lot going on. It can be simply enjoyed as an album, but there are characters, acts, stage directions etc. The listeners can decide on the narrative themselves, but we want them to get lost in it.”

Tune in now.
