The criticism of Chris Cornell’s new album by Nine Inch Nails mainman Trent Reznor has forced the former Soundgarden singer to speak out.
Cornell recently teamed up with R&B producer Timbaland for an extremely unusual collaboration. Mixing slick beats with Cornell’s typically wailing vocals, it has split fans of both parties and earned some stiff criticism in the process.
The singer is famed for his hard rock / grunge work with Soundgarden and then Audioslave. Containing members of Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave split in 2007.
In a Twitter update Trent Reznor wrote: “You know that feeling you get when somebody embarrasses themselves so badly YOU feel uncomfortable? Heard Chris Cornell’s record? Jesus”.
Today (March 16th) Cornell responded by writing: ”What do you think Jesus would twitter? “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone” or “Has anyone seen Judas? He was here a minute ago”.
Chris Cornell’s new album ‘Scream’ is out now.
