Long awaited new LP confirmed

British singer Corinne Bailey Rae has confirmed details of her long awaited second album 'The Sea'.

Born in Leed, Corinne Bailey Rae's smoky voice made her a cult favourite on Britain's tight knit jazz-funk scene. Working on the jacket desk at her local jazz club the singer moonlighted with a series of guest appearances.

Working with bands such as The New Mastersounds the singer gained a reputation as someone possessing something very special. Corinne Bailey Rae was soon snapped up by major label bosses and began work on her debut album.

Releasing her self-titled debut album in 2006, the success of the record took everyone by surprise. A huge hit, Corinne Bailey Rae was transformed into an overnight success with her first record hitting the top of the album charts.

Since then the singer has toured heavily, before taking a short break. However her happiness was interrupted when husband Jason Rae was discovered dead in their home last year.

Speaking of that time recently, Corinne Bailey Rae told The Observer that her life has been left completely changed. "I always think of that moment when I had to turn back. My life was going in one direction, then, in an instant, it was turned around."

Struggling through an extremely difficult period in her life, Corinne Bailey Rae was able to focus on her new album. Intimate and personal, 'The Sea' is dominated by themes of grief and loss.

"It's a song about grief and loss and that's really what the whole record is about" she confirms. "It's like I want to tell people about this thing, this thing that I could not make sense of and could not find anything I could read, or listen to, that would help me make sense of."

Corinne Bailey Rae is set to release 'The Sea' on February 1st.
