Cordae has finally revealed the reason behind the YBN split.
The group emerged as a rap tri-force uniting Cordae with fellow artists Nahmir and Jay Almighty. Back in 2020, Cordae dropped YBN from his moniker, but he never fully addressed the fate of the group.
Until now, that is. During a recent interview with YouTuber Peaks100 the rapper was asked directly about YBN, and why the group was placed on ice.
“It was a number of reasons, bro,” Cordae said. “Name one group that stayed together. Not even the Jackson 5, and them n***as were brothers.”

The rapper explained that the trio never recorded a song together – a sign of discontent right from the start. “The business side of it was kind of like, super f*cked up, honestly,” Cordae continued. “N****s got into a big argument in Europe. People say certain things they can’t take back. It’s still love, but it’s just some shit that you can’t take.”
In spite of this, Cordae remains close to both members of YBN. “Nahmir, that’s still my homie,” he said. “Jay, I still fuck with bro. Nahmir threw n****s that [alley] oop so I’m very grateful.”
