American troubadour Conor Oberst is set to release his new album ‘Outer South’ on May 4th.
Best known for his work as Bright Eyes, Conor Oberst formed the Mystic Valley Band last year. The new band released their debut album together in 2008, with ‘Conor Oberst’ signalling a new direction for the songwriter.
While obviously Conor Oberst is the dominating songwriting force in the group, forthcoming album ‘Outer South’ shows a new team ethic in force.
Recorded in a studio outside El Paso, Texas over the course of two months, the album features songs written by Oberst and fellow Mystic Valley Band members Jason Boesel, Nik Freitas, and Taylor Hollingsworth.
The sixteen track affair sees the band soak up some of their Southern influences, while retaining Oberst’s lyrical edge.
Fans who caught the group’s tour at the end of last year will be familiar with some of the material, with Conor Oberst And The Mystic Valley Band also playing a stunning set on the Conan O’Brien show.
