Pop creator Common Saints has shared his new album ‘Cinema 3000’ in full.
The songwriter – Charlie J Perry – tends to fly under the radar, but his South London studio-turned-pop-laboratory is responsible for some global hits. With writing credits alongside a slew of massive artists – think BTS, Jorja Smith, Olivia Dean, Lola Young and Maverick Sabre, to name a few – he’s low-key turned into one of UK music’s MVPs.
Home is, as ever, where the heart is, and Common Saints is a repository for his most personal ideas. New album ‘Cinema 3000’ was sculpted at his South London studio HQ, and it aims to counter-balance our modern predilection for velocity, and information saturation.
A song cycle of subtle beauty, it’s also strikingly imaginative, a labour of love from a true pop auteur.
“We went from reading books to having incredibly powerful devices in our hands that can access any piece of information available,” Charlie explains. “We are bombarded by information all the time and living in the absolute Apex of humanity as we know it, ‘Cinema 3000’ is a reflection of this time and hopefully an antidote to some chaos.”
Tune in now.
