Common, Pete Rock Announce New Album ‘The Auditorium, Vol. 1’

A titanic collaboration...

Common and Pete Rock combine on new album ‘The Auditorium, Vol. 1’.

The two have been working together for some time, gradually bringing three ideas to fruition. Common is a seminal MC, arguably one of the best lyricists rap has produced; for his part, Pete Rock is a world-builder, a producer who has influenced successive generations of studio art.

The pair have laid out plans for a full-length collaboration, with ‘The Auditorium, Vol. 1’ set to land on July 12th. Common says of the pair’s creative relationship…

“Pete Rock is one of The Greatest Creators Hip Hop and Music has ever seen. It has been a dream of mine to work with him on an album. And once we got together and I I was around him and all his records and his MPC  I felt the spirit of what I always loved in hip hop in soul music and why I wanted to be a part of the artform. His beats, his production, his scratches, took me to a place where I could just MC freely. It felt I like I was home.”

New single ‘Dreamin’ is actually the first song on the record, and it’s old school bounce is given a fresh rendering by the finessed production. Common is typically soulful, lending a musicality to his flows that others rappers can’t match.
