Coldplay have been named the band most likely to help people cure insomnia.
Coldplay’s enormous success has rightfully brought acclaim, but the more attention the band get the more reactionary criticism they receive. Now the band have topped a poll to find the act most likely to help people fall asleep.
A result which could, of course, be taken in one of two ways. Conducted by Travelodge, the survey asked people which music they listen to before trying to get a good night’s sleep.
The relaxing tones of Chris Martin appear to soothe people aiming to escape the clutches of insomnia. Topping the new poll, Coldplay beat off some tough competition including some fellow British acts.
Jazz singer Michael Buble earned his place, while Northern Irish indie giants Snow Patrol have a follow amongst narcoleptics. The study aimed to find how Britons manage to de-stress and achieve a good’s night sleep.
“In today’s hectic fast-paced world, stress is the number one trigger for keeping 75 per cent of Britons awake at night,” Leigh McCarron, Travelodge sleep director said.
“Therefore it’s no surprise that eight out of ten Britons rely on music to help them nod off.”
The study found that 84% of those polled enjoyed listening to music before heading to bed. A worthwhile aid to a good night’s sleep, 15% insisted that music has helped them have a better night.
Elsewhere on the list, Jack Johnson earns a place in the Top Ten while Radiohead also appear. Presumably fans aren’t listening to ‘Idioteque’ before drifting off then…
