Globe trotting stadium giants Coldplay are due to make an appearance in ‘The Simpsons’, playing a private concert for Bart.
‘The Simpsons’ is now a television institution. The dysfunctional cartoon family have kept us entertained for two decades, thrilling millions with their emotional ups and downs. Celebrities and even former Presidents have queued up to appear in the program, with British rock group Coldplay being the latest to guest star on the show.
Since the release of their new album ‘Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends’ last year Coldplay have entered the upper echelons of fame. With his Hollywood actress wife, singer Chris Martin has become one of the most recognisable faces on the planet.
Still touring strong, the band are due to take a short break at the end of the year in order to work on new material. Once again teaming up with producer Brian Eno, Coldplay are expected to have an experimental twist on their new songs.
However before then the band are due to be immortalised in ‘The Simpsons’. The show has long been a fan of pop music, with a host of famous stars appearing in the program.
Three members of The Beatles have appeared in the show, with acts such as James Brown, Aerosmith, Red Hot Chili Peppers and of course Michael Jackson all queuing up to star in the cartoon.
Taking place in the everyday town of Springfield, the citizens can expect some famous visitors for their new series. Chris Martin is set to play himself in an episode in which Coldplay perform a private show for Bart and Homer, after the nuclear power plant worker wins a million dollars on the internet.
Entertainment Weekly reports that the group are forced to stop the gig after Bart goes to the bathroom. Amongst the other stars confirmed for the upcoming season are Eartha Kitt, who recorded her part before she died last year.
Coldplay’s appearance allows for a whole host of puns, which ClashMusic have decided to spare you from. Suffice to, Chris Martin will be all ‘Yellow’, too!
