Coldplay Side Project Single Due

Apparatatjik work on debut album

Coldplay side project Apparatatjik are set to release their debut single ‘Electric Eye’ later this year.

Coldplay are now one of the biggest bands on the planet. Last year’s titanic album ‘Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends’ scored enormous chart success, breaking records and becoming the band’s best selling effort to date.

Since then, the band have released an album of re-workings and additional material taken from initial sessions with Brian Eno. ‘Prospekt’s March’ was a worthy follow up, demonstrating just how flexible the band are.

With Coldplay taking a break following an exhausting world tour, the band are now spending time apart. Drummer Will Champion has bought some fancy new equipment, with the musician said to be experimenting with electronic rhythms.

Now guitarist Guy Berryman is set to launch a side project. The Coldplay star has been working on new material with some Scandinavian friends under the name Apparatatjik.

The group have been working on their debut single with ‘Electric Eye’ due to be released on November 30th. Also including A-Ha’s Magne Furuholmen and Mew’s Jonas Bjerre the group announced their arrival to the world earlier this year through appearing on an unusual compilation.

Apparatjik contributed a track to the compilation album ‘Amazon’ earlier this year. The soundtrack to the BBC series of the same name, the song ‘Ferreting’ demonstrated the band’s unique songwriting voice.

Currently working on their debut album, Apparatjik have not set a date for releasing further new material.

Apparatjik are set to release their new single ‘Electric Eye’ on November 30th.
