UK’s finest bunch of mild mannered stadium rockers Coldplay have scooped two gongs at the annual Word Music Awards (WMAs) in Monaco.
Fronted by Chris Martin, the group have had an astonishing year with new album ‘Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends’ topping the charts across the globe.
The band were named the world’s top selling act of 2008, a stunning achievement by the group. As well as this, Coldplay waltzed away with the coveted ‘Rock Act Of The Year’ award.
Fellow Brits Leona Lewis and Amy Winehouse also picked up awards, while postman-botherer Ringo Starr collected the diamond award on behalf of the Beatles. The diamond award was created in 2001 to honor the select band of artists who have sold more than 100 million albums.
Other big winners on the night include American singer Kid Rock, Alicia Keys and Beyonce.
