Band Claim Influence From Singer

Globe trotting superstars Coldplay have admitted the strong influence of Jeff Buckley on their music, with singer Chris Martin claiming that early song 'Shiver' was directly inspired by the singer.

As difficult as it is to imagine now, but at one point Coldplay were just another aspiring indie band. The group's early song 'Shivers' featured a stunning vocal performance from Martin, which he claims was inspired by the late singer.

In an interview was the BBC Martin claimed the track as “a blatant Jeff Buckley attempt”.

"Not quite as good, that's what I think. We were 21 and he was very much a hero, and as with those things it tends to filter through,” Martin continued.

As previously reported Chris Martin claimed that recent single 'Violet Hill' was inspired by the Beatles. Jeff Buckley currently sits at number three in the UK charts with his X Factor rejuvenated track 'Hallelujah'.
