Coldplay No. 1 In 36 Countries

UK Group Go Global

Coldplay seem to have achieved what no British group has done in a generation with new album “Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends” hitting number one across the globe.

The new album hit the top spot in both Britain and the United States, and the rest of the world has followed suit with the band claiming pole position in 36 countries. This has already beaten the group’s last album “X & Y” which went to number one in a paltry 32 nations.

A huge hit across the planet, Coldplay’s new album has already been certified gold or platinum in 31 countries, including platinum in the United States and double platinum in the UK and Canada.

“Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends” set the record for highest ever first week sales on the iTunes worldwide store, in addition to being the biggest pre-order success in the site’s history.

Is this the start of the new British Pop Empire? We’ll wait and see, but Coldplay are set to launch their North American tour with two sold out dates in Los Angeles on July 14th and 15th.
