Coldplay Move Up Album Chart

'Mylo Xyloto' now number two

Coldplay’s ‘Mylo Xyloto’ is one of the week’s biggest risers on the latest Top 40 chart.

Now a global phenomenon, Coldplay returned with ‘Mylo Xyloto’ last year. Notching up yet another number one, since then the band have been content to let the album become a slow burning success.

The New Year seems to have re-ignited their chart flair, with ‘Mylo Xyloto’ soaring up the charts. The prospect of a new European tour has sent fans out to music shops in their droves, pushing the album further up the Top 40.

The final figures for last week (w/c January 23rd) have been counted, with Ed Sheeran finding his way to number one. The solo star is quickly followed by Coldplay, who sit just behind Sheeran at number two.

Spending fourteen weeks on the chart, ‘Mylo Xyloto’ has enjoyed renewed success of late. Sitting at number two, Coldplay are just ahead of chart slaying Tottenham singer Adele and the ever present figure of Bruno Mars.

Rizzle Kicks are at number five, while Chris Isaak’s new offering ‘Beyond The Sun’ enters the charts at number six.

A tribute album of sorts, ‘Beyond The Sun’ is themed around the output of Sun Studios. A legendary hub for rock ‘n’ roll, Rockabilly and country music, Chris Isaak has tackled some classic tracks.

Further down the charts, The Vaccines are at number eight with their loveitorloatheit debut album. ‘What Did You Expect From The Vaccines?’ sits one place ahead of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, with the former Oasis lynchpin turned solo star also looking to kick off a UK tour shortly.
