British group Coldplay have hit the top of the Billboard Singles Chart – becoming the first UK group to achieve this feat in 11 years.
The single “Viva La Vida” currently sits at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart, with the parent album “Viva la Vida Or Death And All His Friends” also released this week. Meanwhile, on this side of the pond, Coldplay are also expected to be at the summit of the UK chart when it is announced on Sunday (June 22nd).
The last UK group to top the US singles charts was The Spice Girls with “Wannabe” in 1997. Solo stars are a more frequent fixture on the US charts, with James Blunt and Leona Lewis both scoring recent number ones.
