Coldplay are set to release their much anticipated new album ‘Mylo Xyloto’ on October 24th.
With the release of ‘Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends’ Coldplay leaped into the major leagues. Perhaps the biggest band on the planet, the album topped the charts in more than 20 countries.
A hugely successful release, the album spawned several hit singles and an epic tour. Taking time off, ,Coldplay surprised fans by returning in December with a one off Christmas themed single.
Sessions with their production team continued, before the band broke cover this summer. Now Coldplay have finally put fans out of their misery and officially announced the release of their new studio album.
‘Mylo Xyloto’ us due to be released on October 24th, with production duties placed in the hands of Markus Dravs, Daniel Green and Rik Simpson. According to the press release Brian Eno was responsible for “enoxification and additional composition”.
Enoxification? Only one man in British music could possibly prompt the coining of a entirely new verb.
The upcoming album will be released in October, with Coldplay preparing several new formats. ‘Mylo Xyloto’ is set to be given a CD release while the album will also be pressed onto 180 gram vinyl.
As a bonus, the vinyl edition will be housed with a 12” x 36” poster, while a special limited edition Pop-Up Album version will also be available, which will include a 12″ x 12″ hardback book containing graffiti pop-up art designed by David A. Carter, vinyl, CD and exclusive content including photographs, excerpts from the studio diary and the band’s personal notebooks.
The cover art has been made reversible, meaning that CDs distributed to shops will be split on a 50 / 50 basis. 50% of the CDs available will feature the full colour version, while the other half will have the CD booklet flipped, showing the silver initials “M X” via a die-cut sheet placed over the color image.
