Irish artist CMAT has shared new single ‘Stay For Something’.
The songwriter has had an incredible summer, propelled by the energy of a breakout Glastonbury performance. Supporting First Aid Kit at South Facing Festival, she peppered her set with new material, pointing to her incoming album.
Slated to land on October 13th, ‘Crazymad, For Me’ could become a vital moment for this bold talent. New single ‘Stay For Something’ underlines the potency of her cause – fantastically assured, the country-pop melodies mask lyrical barbs.
A song with a euphoric feel, ‘Stay For Something’ is about claiming your life as your own, pushing aside bad relationships and reclaiming your self-worth. Led by a rousing CMAT vocal, it’s a terrific piece of songwriting.
She comments…
“It’s basically just about questioning why I stayed / suffered in a bad relationship for as long as i did. trying to desperately find some kind of meaning in the mess and then being embarrassed when i remember the good parts. It’s not very lyrical or poetic, it’s just a lot of emotion and energy – this song, to me, sounds like going for a run at 1am with your headphones on full blast, screaming through the streets in order to get away from your problems. i hope that at least one person does that when they hear it.”
