Clothing Announce New Album ‘From Memory’

It's out on July 26th...

Remarkable NYC-based partnership Clothing have detailed plans for their new album ‘From Memory’.

The project unites two artists from opposing ends of the creative sphere, uniting a left-field composer with someone who has more of a pop-oriented background. Together, though, Aakaash Israni (Dawn of Midi) and Ben Sterling (Cookies, Mobius Band) are busy crafting something special.

New album ‘From Memory’ is out on July 26th, with guests including the likes of Amber Coffman (Dirty Projectors), L’Rain, Anna Wise and Elliott Skinner.

Need more convincing? New song ‘Still Point’ is out now, and it blends Clothing’s remarkable future-facing artistry with vocals from CLASH favourite L’Rain.

A truly majestic piece of music, the electronic rush is held together by the majesty of L’Rain, whose vocal feels as refreshing as a cool breeze on a warm summer’s day.

Clothig’s Ben Sterling explains…

“‘Still Point’ is a song about love and devotion, and the fear of losing those things. It is a banal, cruel fact that love is so self-evidently what life is about, yet it opens us up to visitations from the worst horrors imaginable. There are so many ways to lose something irreplaceable: breakup, serious illness, plane crash…Any time I’m reminded of this, I fill with terror: ‘It’s a long way down to the bottom now.’”

“After we heard L’Rain’s beautiful performance, we went back and rearranged the chorus to give her voice even more space,” says Aakaash Israni. “That’s how we ended up with such a bare, almost solemn first chorus compared to the more ecstatic second. She chose this song right away and brought so much pathos to her performance. Her wordless outro vocal is sublime.”

Tune in now.
