Glasgow-based Cloth have shared new song ‘Low Sun’.
The band’s slim but vital catalogue makes great use of space, with their minimalist palette recalling Young Marble Giants, Galaxie 500, or even Life Without Buildings. Deeply evocative musicians, Cloth have linked with Mogwai-linked independent powerhouse Rock Action for incoming EP ‘Low Sun’.
The EP lands on October 7th, and the title track is online now. Quietly powerful, the interlocking parts carry a remarkable assurance, the deft melodic edge driven forwards by that percussive heartbeat.
Moving to its conclusion, ‘Low Sun’ adds more light and shade to Cloth’s work. Guitarist Paul Swinton says: “We recorded most of Low Sun in the studio we built during lockdown. It was the first song we were able to use the studio for so it’ll always be quite special to us for that reason.”
He adds: “The song itself deals with the euphoria that comes from finding someone whose presence is all you need; someone who can make any space seem full when it’s just you and them. It’s also about the scariness of being without that person and adjusting to being apart for long periods of time.”
The track is online in full, check it out below.
