Cleo Sol – real name Cleopatra Nikolic – has teased a new era with the release of new single, ‘Fear When You Fly’, out via Forever Living Originals.
‘Fear When You Fly’ is the London singer’s first release since ‘Heaven’ and ‘Gold’ were released in a two-week span last year.
In a recent interview with Zane Lowe, the usually reclusive artist shared she was working on new music. “I’m always making new music. To put it out, that’s another story. This stuff I do want to put out, so I’m in the process of building it,” she said, before sharing a snippet of the single.
The song, out in its entirety today, was produced and written with partner and longtime collaborator Inflo. The lilting, gospel-infused number, like much of Cleo’s recent repertoire, is a showcase in fallibility; an invocation to self and to God, and a sage piece of advice to her young children to lean into dual feelings of fear and faith as they navigate life.
Cleo is also a member of UK-based collective SAULT, who released their most recent collection, ‘Untitled (God)’ in 2022. They closed out 2023 with a special one-off performance at Drumsheds in London, acclaimed as one of the most immersive stage shows of recent memory.
