For so long, Pulp were the nearly men (and, of course, women) of British music.
But 'Different Class' changed that. An enormous commercial success, the album is widely regarded as one of the highpoints of what was termed Britpop, a work which allied lyrical wit to melodic splendour.
Classic Album Sundays and the John Peel Archive are to host a special playback of 'Different Class', taking place at the John Peel Centre for Creative Arts in Stowmarket on June 8th.
As a bonus, the entire event will be introduced by Jarvis Cocker himself. It's an appropriate tribute – 'Different Class' reaches its impeccable 20th birthday this year while Pulp hold the record for the biggest gap between their first second and second Peel Session.
