Clash magazine returns to The Lock Tavern in Camden for the now-legendary Sunday Sessions with live music, DJs and…square pies
This latest Sunday Sessions bill is another corker packed full with the names currently on everyone’s lips… Ida Maria, Nick Harrison and The Lost Brothers plus The Freelance Hellraiser and the Clash DJs on deck duties.
The BBC’s long-range weather forecast predicts the summer is finally heading our way towards the end of July, so what better place to soak up some sunshine than on the Lock Tavern’s outdoor terrace overlooking the Stables Market with lush tunes in your ears?
23-year old Norwegian Ida Maria will be belting out her unique style of pop-punk tunes from debut album, ‘Fortress Round My Heart’, including her current single which is probably bouncing around on your internal jukebox right now, ‘I Like You So Much Better When You’re Naked’.
Nick Harrison, in his own words, is a singer songwriter. He enjoys nothing more that writing music, playing music and referring to himself in the third person. He is managed by the wonderful Empire Artist Management. Recently Nick Harrison signed to A&M Records. This was extremely enjoyable for him. He is very proud to have been given the opportunity to work with such cool cats.
The Lost Brothers are Mark McCausland and Oisin Leech. They aren’t actually brothers but they feel like they should be. Having roamed the streets of Liverpool with their previous bands (The Basement and 747s), they started writing songs late last autumn before setting sail for Portland, Oregon, to record their debut album as the Lost Brothers (a name a friend dreamt about and insisted they use).
2008 has been a busy year for The Freelance Hellraiser so far. He’s worked with the likes of Crystal Castles, Santogold, The Clik Clik, Gang Of Four, Ladyhawke and Das Pop. He also manned the decks on the Skins Live tour and was invited by Paul McCartney to DJ as part of his performance in Liverpool at the European City Of Culture celebrations last month.
