Clash has overhauled its new music playlist series for Apple Music users.
In need of a quick new music fix this Bank Holiday? Well, look no further. For some time now, we’ve been running three ever-evolving playlists, with Next Wave, Astral Realm, and Freeflow bringing you the best in breaking artists.
But that’s not all. Now we are traversing boundaries on Apple Music, where we will be broadening our scope and introducing fresh editorial perspectives.
So, it’s worth reintroducing our playlists. UK Rap: Freeflow is our platform for new rap music in the UK, moving between drill, grime, UK hip-hop, road rap and other flavours. This is truly a golden age for British rap music, and we aim to capture its evolution in real time.
Next Wave is our new music strand, a place to pivot between indie rock, pop songwriting, fresh R&B, and bold electronic persuasions. Sitting alongside our print section – and our continually updating online tab – this playlist is eclectic, fun, and pretension-free.
Astral Realm is a regular in-depth column helmed by Shahzaib Hussain, a discourse on his passion in connecting the dots between R&B, neo-soul, jazz, electronics, and other aesthetics of the heart. Often down tempo, but with a nod to club energy, this playlist patrols the viscous space between genres, suggesting new patterns to follow.
Oh, and one more thing…
We’ll also be updating and overhauling Essential 10 – this is our office playlist, your glimpse into the inner workings of our office.
