Clara Kimera Details New ‘Dial 8’ Solo EP

Spectral folk meets twitchy electronics...

French musician Clara Kimera has shared plans for her new solo EP ‘Dial 8’.

The musician is a key part of CLASH favourites Agar Agar, but has recently begun sketching out ideas that don’t fit into the group’s identity. Opting to focus on solo conduits, her creative practise has now resulted in a fresh EP.

Out on January 31st, ‘Dial 8’ melts together spider-like folk frailties with twitchy electronics, a curious mixture that recalls everyone from PC Music to early Tunng via Four Tet’s ‘Rounds’.

“This project feels deeply personal and connected to my imagination.” explains Kimera on her debut solo project. “My writing is very visual, often inspired by vivid dreams, absurd experiences, and influences like Berserk, Vagabond, and Hunter x Hunter. The name “Kimera” is a nod to the Chimera Ants in Hunter x Hunter, reflecting my need to weave fantasy into my work as a way to escape reality. Creating work solo has been very different from my time with Agar Agar, where everything came from spontaneous live sessions. Now, I write and produce alone, crafting songs in phases and exploring deeper concepts.”

New song ‘Strangers on screen’ is out now, a beautiful ode to our very modern sense of mobile phone led alienation – tune in now.
