Clap Your Hands Say Yeah Split Rumours

US band not ready to work together

Rumours are circulating about the future of American group Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, with the band’s manager stating they are unlikely to work together again in the near future.

The band were formed around lead singer Alec Ounsworth, and gathered a snowballing reputation due to acclaim in the blogosphere. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah were deeply influenced by groups such as Talking Heads, with their self-titled debut album gaining some stunning reviews.

The group last released an album in 2007, with ‘Some Loud Thunder’ becoming a cult favourite in the United States. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah have not recorded since then, and speculation has been mounting over the group’s longterm future.

In a new interview with the NME, the group’s manager confirmed that the group “have decided not to go back into the studio at this time while the guys work on other projects”. Bassist Tyler Sargent and keyboardist Robbie Guertin recently formed a side-project called Uninhabitable Mansions.

So in the long run – could happen. But in the short term – don’t hold your breath.
