Michael Jackson’s much vaunted live return has been greeted with hysterical acclaim from fans, and now Coldplay singer Chris Martin has joined the throng of fans hailing the performer’s return.
The King of Pop is well and truly back. Michael Jackson recently announced a run of ten shows in the O2 Arena in London which seem to have caught the public’s imagination. Due to phenomenal demand for tickets the singer was forced to expand the residency to an astonishing fifty shows – running until next year!
Beginning in July, tickets for the shows sold out within hours. Demand was so great that at one point Michael Jackson’s website recorded over ten thousand visits per second.
Amongst those who were left disappointed was Coldplay singer Chris Martin. “I was looking at it on the internet and thought, ‘I’d better buy some for myself’ and I couldn’t. They were totally sold out,” he told British tabloid The Mirror.
“To sell out like that is a testament to talent. It is just amazing to sell out 50 shows in one city in a big arena.”
“It’s the biggest comeback since Lazarus. It’s good news – but not for me.”
Michael Jackson has declared that these shows would be his last in London. The singer has not performed a full tour since HIStory took place between 1996-97.
