Coldplay singer Chris Martin has admitted he has a bizarre pre-gig ritual: brushing his teeth.
Chris Martin has come a long way. From curly haired indie pin up boy to the spouse of a Hollywood star, the songwriter has moved to the upper echelons of global fame.
Yet he never forgets to brush his teeth before going on stage. In a new interview the singer reveals “for me, there are about 18 things I have to do before I can go out to perform – most of them are too ridiculous to repeat!”
“One is I have to brush my teeth before I go on stage, otherwise I just don’t feel smart enough.”
Coldplay are currently on the Australian leg of their world tour. The nation has recently been devastated by the losses caused by massive bush fires, and one show played by the group doubled as a benefit for those affected.
Speaking to the Melbourne Herald Sun, Chris Martin revealed that he prefers to play to massive crowds. “It’s easier to perform the more people there are. Performing is much easier than playing.”
“When you are just playing, you kind of feel embarrassed if it’s in a sound check party or a radio station or whatever, because you can’t just let yourself go in the lights or the event. I find once there are lots of people and the lights go down, performing is just pure joy.”
Coldplay’s world tour is ongoing.
