Choir Of Young Believers are set to release their new album ‘Rhine Gold’ on March 20th.

Hailing from Denmark, Choir Of Young Believers released their debut album in 2008. ‘This Is for the White in Your Eyes’ won widespread acclaim, with songwriter Jannis Noya Makrigiannis matching electronic textures with artistry that recalled Neil Young.

Since then, the band have toured sporadically while beginning work on a follow up. Maintaining their connection to Ghostly International, second album ‘Rhine Gold’ is set to drop on March 20th.

Choir Of Young Believers have taken their time to construct the new album, with Jannis Noya Makrigiannis patiently piecing together simply ideas into something emotionally complex.

Check out ‘Patricia’s Thirst’ below. Sure, the icy electronic textures recall Scandinavian contemporaries such as The Knife but the songwriting has a very organic side that hints at years spent listening to classic pop such as the Beach Boys.

But those are just names, reference points. As Jannis Noya Makrigianni told ClashMusic in 2009: “I can understand why people sometimes want to use references to describe music. It’s the easiest way to describe the music but it’s also the silliest thing. Maybe even a little bit cheap.”
