Cherish Kaya On Ipso Facto Split

Keyboard player leaves group

Hotly tipped London four piece Ipso Facto have been rocked by the departure of keyboard player Cherish Kaya.

Hailing from all corners of the UK, Ipso Facto’s all girl line up swept through the London indie scene. Mixing goth influences with snarling garage rock, the band visually recall The Horrors but have a sound all of their own.

A handful of singles followed, before the band released their debut EP ‘If…’ earlier this year. Gathering a cult following, Ispo Facto were rocked recently when their keyboard player Cherish Kaya left following an extensive tour.

In a new interview with NME, the musician claims that her relationship with lead singer Rosalie Cunningham was the main reason for her leaving. “I left because four girls in a band is never a good idea I suppose,” she told the magazine. “We all had different ideas on where we wanted to go.”

The keyboard player claims Cunningham was “over the moon” when she was told of her departure. “In Italy we just argued the whole time,” the keyboard player added. “An argument led to people saying, ‘If you’re gonna keep complaining then you can fuck off’, so I fucked off!”

Ispo Facto have been left without a keyboard player, but have wasted no time in holding auditions. “It’s really weird, they’ve already asked all of my hot female friends,” revealed Kaya.

Since leaving the band Cherish Kaya has joined Florence And The Machine. Lead singer Florence Welch worked with Johnny Borrell, while the group themselves recently picked up the Critics Choice Brit Award.

“They’re all session musicians so they’re really amazing,” she said. “It’s a new thing because I’m not responsible for anything. It’s just nice playing music without the pressure of being a band trying to make it.”

Ispo Facto have yet to confirm a new keyboard player.
