The chart round up is in, and Clashmusic.com takes a gander to see where our favourite artists have landed this week.
Who’d have thought that “Britain’s Got Talent” could prompt a chart revolution? Not us, but Mint Royale will no doubt be sending their thanks to the show after it extensively featured their remix of “Singin’ In The Rain”. Charting purely through downloads, the song received absolutely no promotion from the record label. At pole position for the second week in a row, let’s hope it doesn’t act as a prediction for our summer.
Further down the cart The Ting Tings get confused for someone else with “That’s Not My Name” sitting at number four, while Welsh soul wonder Duffy is lucky seven with “Warwick Avenue”. Into uncharted waters now, as Pendulum race in to number 23 with “Propane Nightmares” while Mystery Jets role up the sleeves to their blazers and get stuck in at 24. Finally, Feeder hit number 25 with “We Are The People”, presumably bought by misguided supporters of Glasgow Rangers. Not misguided for liking Feeder, of course, just for favouring blue…
In the album charts there was no suprise as Coldplay rushed in to claim the number one slot with “Viva la Vida Or Death And All His Friends”. I don’t know about you, but everyone at Clash definitely preferred typing “X & Y”. The Modfather is making you an offer you’d be foolish to refuse with new album “22 Dreams” – Paul Weller is currently at number four. Glaswegian vagabonds The Fratellis are in fifth place with their not-all-that-bad LP “Here We Stand”. Finally, country legend Emmylou Harris is at number 40 with “All I Intended To Be” – but she’s number one in our hearts.
