One time Ash guitarist Charlotte Hatherley is set to work with electronic genius Squarepusher on new material.
Charlotte Hatherley joined Ash in 1997, immediately adding a tougher edge to the band’s sound. Emerging as a potent songwriting voice Hatherley’s material became a firm favourite with fans of the Northern Irish group.
Taking the decision to go solo in 2006 Hatherley’s debut solo album ‘Grey To Fade’ was released soon after. Acclaimed by critics the singer followed this with ‘The Deep Blue’ before returning to the studio.
Releasing her new album ‘New Worlds’ later this year, the guitarist has received some unlikely support. Releasing the single ‘White Pt 2’ Charlotte Hatherley was given the Warp treatment by electronic guru Squarepusher.
Now working with Bat For Lashes, Charlotte Hatherley told Teletext that she was planning to work on new material with Squarepusher.
“Tom (Jenkinson, aka Squarepusher) remixed my last single, which was brilliant because he prides himself on not really listening to much new music,” she said.
“It’s not definite, but working on new songs together is on the horizon. It’d be something in the vein of Lightning Bolt, I think.”
In addition to being a stunning producer Squarepusher is also one of the finest bass players on the planet. In fact, the musician’s most recent album consisted entirely of solo bass recordings.
Charlotte Hatherley is due to release her latest album ‘New Worlds’ on October 19th.
