Charlotte Dos Santos Shares Breezy New Single ‘Filha Do Sol’

Charlotte Dos Santos has shared her breezy new single ‘Filha Do Sol’.

The songwriter grew up in a dual national household, with a Brazilian father and a Norwegian mother. Her music draws on both strands of her heritage, and nowhere is this more clear than her latest single.

Online now, ‘Filha Do Sol’ is a soulful return, an enriching, breezy offering that incorporates aspects of Edu Lobo’s ‘O Açoite Bateu’. An askew glance at bossa nova songwriting, the clipped acoustic lines are met by mesmerising harmonies.

An ode to Brazil, the visuals take you for a spin around the incredible landscapes of Norway – a nice union of the two aspects of her heritage.

She says: “’Filha Do Sol’ is the most special song to me as it is a song about my heritage dedicated to my family in Brazil. It’s a song about myself, having my Norwegian mother’s hair, and my father’s skin. It’s a song about the history of slavery and it’s about resilience and empowerment to all people of color as a reminder that we are strong and will always rise again”.

Charlotte Dos Santos will release her debut album ‘MORFO’ on October 14th. Check out ‘Filha Do Sol’ below.
