Canadian artist Charlotte Day Wilson today unveils ‘Charlotte Day Wilson (Live at Maida Vale)‘, a special three-track EP featuring live reworkings of album title track ‘Cyan Blue’, ‘Sleeper’, and ‘I Don’t Love You’.
Originally recorded for Benji B’s BBC Radio 1 show in London’s iconic Maida Vale, these intimate solo performances integrate the Steinway piano, reanimating core tracks from Wilson’s acclaimed sophomore album ‘Cyan Blue‘, which was released in May this year and created with longtime collaborator Jack Rochon and Leon Thomas.
In his interview with Wilson for CLASH, writer Joshua Khan called ‘Cyan Blue’ the Toronto artist’s best work. “Inspired by a newfound creative openness and a personal experience with synesthesia, ‘Cyan Blue’ drifts into a different chromism of melancholia with spacey Hi Records thumpers (‘My Way’), irresistibly smooth love notes (‘Dovetail’), and summer dazes that sting like the end credits of ‘Flower Boy’ (‘Do U Still’). While it unpacks romantic phrasings that magnify the timelessness in her voice, it’s her free-forming into a new zone that’s ever-evolving.”
Alongside the release of the EP, Charlotte Day Wilson has announced new UK and Europe live tour dates for Autumn 2024. Commencing on October 29th in Manchester, the ‘Cyan Blue’ tour will see her perform at venues in Bristol, London, South Wales, Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin, and Reykjavik.
