Charlie Fink led Noah & The Whale through four albums, with their chiming indie-folk broadening to become songwriters of enormous depth and sophistication.
Taking a step back, the London-based artist recently emerged once more, laying down new material at his own pace.
New album 'Cover My Tracks' will be released on June 2nd, and features backing vocals from The Staves and guitar-work from acclaimed classical guitarist Laura Snowden.
“The idea of simple, storytelling songs appealed to me,” he explains, “I feel like we could have followed up ‘The First Days Of Spring’ quite naturally with this record.”
Clash is able to tease the release with something new from the singer, a deceptively simple track that overwhelms with its subtle beauty.
'Anywhere You're Going Is On My Way' is a wonderful return, a charming piece of indie-folk that unfurls with a gentle grace.
Charlie Fink explains: "This is the second song on the album and continues the story of the characters we met in the first song 'Firecracker'. It features string arrangements from the amazing Trey Pollard at Spacebomb Studios who I heard about through his work on the Natalie Prass album."
Tune in now.
