Slow Club's Charles Watson has introduced debut solo album 'Now That I'm A River'.

The songwriter has spent over a decade operating in the much-loved duo, before recently taking on guitar duties in The Surfing Magazines.

Alongside this, the ever-industrious songwriter has been working on his debut solo record, due for release later this year on Moshi Moshi.

'Now That I'm A River' will be released on May 18th, and it's packed with fresh ideas, left field sounds, and Charles' innate pop touch.

New song 'Abandoned Buick' is online now, with the songwriter commenting that it owes a debt to a chance introduction to a Yamaha YC30.

He explains: “The band Mates of State left a Yamaha YC30 at the Moshi Moshi Records HQ a few years ago and somehow I’ve ended up babysitting the thing... I love this thing so much. The fuzz setting through a Fender amp is basically the most pleasing sounding thing I’ve ever heard. That’s what does the riff on ‘Abandoned Buick’. Thanks Mates of State, please don’t come back for it.”

Tune in now.

'Now That I'm A River' will be released on May 18th.
