Cathy Jain has launched her new EP ‘spacegirl’.
The songwriter has detailed her second EP, with ‘spacegirl’ set to be released on October 14th through key tastemaker imprint YALA! Records.
Recently returning with 6Music favourite ‘UFO’, Cathy Jain switches it up once more for the second single to emerge from the EP.
The path to the incoming four-tracker is lit up by ‘gaslight’, a song that talks about different experiences in a would-be relationship. Lyrically, she’s self-deprecating, with this melodic muse upon a crush layering different forms of irony, to leave the listener intrigued.
She comments…
“It’s a fun song with a bit of a satirical edge, it’s about crushing on someone and then acting extremely weird in the whole situation, although in the song it’s unclear who the one with the crush is (that’s for the listener to decide!). I wanted to write about a crush in a way that’s confused, disorientated but fun – because that’s usually how it seems to go.”
